About Fotonet |
|
Fotonet was set up in 1999 as a project to develop and promote photography in the southern region. Photographers had been under represented, so Fotonet developed systems of information and networking, professional development events, exhibiting photography online and support for new work. As Fotonet does not have a gallery, much of the work is done in collaboration with galleries and arts organisations in the region, thus contributing to their exhibition and education programmes and giving opportunities to photographers to attend talks, Portfolio Days and exhibit. Photographers are welcome to contact Fotonet for advice, and one to one portfolio viewings can sometimes be arranged, time permitting. Since 1999 Fotonet has built up good links with many photographers, curators, writers, galleries and other professionals in the field of photography both in the UK and abroad. Who runs Fotonet? Mark Adams is the website administrator at Fotonet. He is a practicing artist who completed an M.A in Fine Art Sculpture at Winchester School of Art (University of Southampton) in 2001. After working as a technician in the Anthony Caro Studio based in London, he returned to Winchester and now also works freelance as a gallery technician and with exhibition education programmes. Steering Group: Fotonet is funded by Arts Council England, South East. |
